Chiara De Zan
artista
Artist Biography of Chiara De ZanChiara De Zan (born in 1987, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, digital collage, and conceptual art. Her practice revolves around a minimalist yet evocative approach, using subtraction as an expressive technique to address complex themes such as disintegration, identity, memory, and the relationship between self and environment. Chiara’s work is distinguished by the use of heterogeneous materials, including repurposed objects like paper, damaged fabrics, and vintage photographs, which come together to evoke hidden stories and ancestral memories. Her exploration extends to the intersection of technology and humanity, utilizing artificial intelligence and digital media to create new visual languages while maintaining a strong connection to the tangible and sensory. Her pieces reflect a continuous investigation into the fabric of past and present, the value of scars and imperfections, the power of color, and the strength of gesture. Her works invoke a sense of fragility and beauty in impermanence, inviting viewers to contemplate the dualities between order and chaos, presence and absence.Artistic Statement of Chiara De ZanMy art arises from a constant encounter with the world around me, both physical and digital. Through the use of both traditional and modern techniques, I explore the relationship between the body, memory, and the environment. Art, for me, is a language for telling the invisible: emotions, sensory experiences, the connections between past and present. I work with materials that carry stories and traces of life, whether fragments of paper, timeworn photographs, or images generated by algorithms. My aim is to create a visual experience that sparks reflection, sensory engagement, and a dialogue between the audience and my artistic journey.I am inspired by the beauty of imperfection, the idea that every detail tells a unique story. My art is not only an aesthetic search but also a path toward awareness: each piece is an act of transformation, a new form born from the meeting of the old and the new, of matter and technology. In this way, I aim to reveal the essence of what is often invisible, highlighting the importance of what remains, what disintegrates, yet continues to live through memory.
