LARGE CONTAINS SMALL


Carlo Pecorelli makes us reflect once more on humanity and everything that surrounds it, through metaphors and allegories concealed in these corten steel sculptures. It could be no other way for this artist of social and sociological intent, who places the human factor at the centre of his artistic research. The sculptures in the cycle entitled “Il grande contiene il piccolo” (Large Contains Small) highlight how apparently unimportant common objects and little insects become megaphones for reflections and mental change for humanity once they assume other meanings. This is the fundamental theme of the work “Zen”, an enormous pair of glasses that make us think of the need to see the world in a different way, with new eyes, and of the work “Onda” (Wave) in which Pecorelli modifies the fixed triangular shape of the canvas in sinuous waves to highlight the need for fluidity of thought to favour the emergence of man’s emotional nature, which is too often neglected. The work “CO2” underlines the need to safeguard the local area and its natural heritage and “Ragno” (Spider), which focuses on healthy and painstaking labour, where Pecorelli stresses the need for more attention to environmental and ecological themes on one hand and, on the other, to the sensitive things, even if they small, of modern man, often pervaded with superficiality.
