Appennino, un sistema per la promozione del turismo e dei prodotti di eccellenza - http://www.appennino.info A line-up of Nativity scenes From 10th December 2004 to 6th January 2005 hundreds of nativity scenes will be on display in the main tourist sights and along the quaint narrow streets of Urbino. As in previous years, there are several ‘stars’ of the show from famous artists in this sphere - Federico Brandani and “Pippi” Balsamini and artists of national acclaim for example Giuseppe Cascella from Salerno. Two regions particularly famous for this art are Puglia and Campania (Naples). The nativity scenes range from those made by local citizens, schools, associations, districts of the town and public authorities of Urbino, to those coming from all over the world. The majority are handcrafted and use a variety of materials – plaster of Paris, stone, papier-maché, cloth, ceramic, sugar etc.
