Calligrams - Linear Poetry
Venue: Mama Ines Cafeteria. Calle de Hortaleza 22, Madrid, Spain. Dates: December, 11th - January, 15th 2012. Part of the constant artist’s quest is to rediscover new forms of expression. Some use a technique that shows visually or audibly, with an even more profound effect on the public. Apollinaire is considered the originator of the modern calligram and the direct source for the authors of calligrams of the “avant-garde” in Europe. Although this can be argued, it must be recognized that the French author occupies, along with Marinetti, a prominent role in the visual formalization of poetry. In his essay on Magritte, Michel Foucault analysed precisely from these opposing forces, the division between sign and image, and between word and icon. In my view, it is up to the viewer a more in-depth analysis on the idea of the calligram under the opposing perspectives of Apollinaire and Foucault.
