Agostinho Bento de Oliveira's new incursion to mysticism

From May 2nd till May 31st, 2013, Agostinho Bento de Oliveira will exhibit his latest collection of digital art "Angels + Angels", at the Public Library of Ourem (Portugal). "Angels + Angels" is inspired by the famous icons of Russian art of the Cathedrals of the Kremlin at Moscow.

Re-creation of a new aesthetic and symbolic harmony of frescoes of masters of Russian painting, including the originals at the Cathedral of the Dormition at Moscow Kremlin, that has a great value both historically and artistically, being the oldest remaining relics of murals and frescoes of medieval Moscow.

In this collection I use a contemporary background, alternating with the Christian symbolism through the symbols of the writing of the twentieth century along with great master Theodosius, son of Dionysius, the famous artist of ancient Russia, who continue the work of his father. I conclude this series of 12 unforgettable paintings with the frescoes at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, painted in 1508. They are characterised by their great colour and festive character. The frescoes in the Cathedral of the Annunciation are a masterpiece of ancient Russian art and a testimony to the great culture and talent of their authors. The vibrant colour of the icon of the Archangel Michael " remain in the visitors memory as a masterpiece of Russian painting from the end of the XIV century till the beginning of XV.

The 12 paintings and digital collages (digital media printed in photographic paper and mixed media/collage on wood) are the result of months of evolution of my artistic creative mind, and they conveyed an interior spiritual satisfaction where the silence made me transcend between earth and heaven.
